In Massachusetts, over 82,000 international students attended higher education institutions in 2024. Their participation supported our state’s economy with approximately $4 billion dollars. To address students’ stress levels in the midst of disinformation, instead of fueling fear, Northern Essex Community College provides its international students with mental health counseling, referrals to immigration experts, and empower them with information to ensure they remain compliant with F1 Visa requirements.

Conservatives should not give up on higher education because it remains a powerful tool for shaping future leaders, driving innovation, and fostering critical thinking. A 2020 study by the National Bureau of Economic Research found that higher education increases lifetime earnings by an average of $1 million for bachelor’s degree holders. Moreover, universities serve as hubs for social mobility, with 85% of students from the bottom income quartile improving their economic standing. By engaging with higher education, conservatives can ensure that these institutions remain balanced, focused on academic rigor, and accountable to a wide range of perspectives, rather than becoming echo chambers for one ideology.
