Meet Dr. Naydeen González-De Jesús, Economic Mobility Visionary

Dr. González-De Jesús is a distinguished leader in higher education and organizational development, with a strong focus on transforming lives through education, strategic leadership, and data-driven decision-making. As author, speaker, consultant, and organizational psychologist, she advocates for free thought and stands firmly against all forms of discrimination, including antisemitism. Currently serving as the Vice President of the Lawrence Campus and Community Relations at Northern Essex Community College, she previously held the role of college president in Texas. With more than 20 years of experience in higher education and international diplomacy, Dr. González-De Jesús boasts a comprehensive portfolio that includes her tenure as a Public Diplomacy Officer at the U.S. Embassy in Argentina. There, she played a pivotal role in facilitating an Education Memorandum of Understanding between the United States and Argentina during the G20 World Summit.

She is founder and CEO of Empowered Group Strategies LLC, a consultancy firm established in 2016 that promotes progress through education, entrepreneurship, strategic planning, and organizational change. A 2022 Aspen Presidential Fellow, Dr. González-De Jesús has received numerous honors throughout her career, including being named Texas Diversity Council’s San Antonio Woman of the Year in 2024 and earning a National Council for Marketing and Public Relations Bronze Award in 2023 for her Front and Center podcast, and various U.S. Department of State recognitions, including the Eagle Award.

Dr. González-De Jesús holds a Ph.D. in Industrial-Organizational Psychology from Northcentral University, a master’s degree in Student Personnel Services from Rowan University, a bachelor’s degree in Journalism from Penn State University, and a certificate in Ministerial Studies and Theology from Global University.

NECC and The Institute of Dominicans Living Abroad Expand Historic Agreement

Lawrence, MA (August 13, 2025) — The Institute of Dominicans Living Abroad (INDEX) and Northern Essex Community College are proud to announce the signing of a new Memorandum of Understanding aimed at bolstering educational opportunities for the Dominican community in Lawrence, Massachusetts. This new pledge expands on the landmark agreement signed in 2024, making Northern Essex the first educational partner of INDEX in the United States.

New Academic Year Begins with Convocation

Haverhill, MA (September 2, 2025) — The ’25-26 academic year is officially underway at Northern Essex Community College. The fall semester started with Tuesday’s Convocation ceremony. The traditional gathering is used as a time to provide important college updates, as well as to examine topics crucial to NECC’s strategic plan and institutional priorities.

Meeting New Leadership

President Lane Glenn began the meeting by introducing two new members of the college’s leadership team. NAFSA’s Report on International Education and Our Collective Support for F1 Visa Students

In Massachusetts, over 82,000 international students attended higher education institutions in 2024. Their participation supported our state’s economy with approximately $4 billion dollars. To address students’ stress levels in the midst of disinformation, instead of fueling fear, Northern Essex Community College provides its international students with mental health counseling, referrals to immigration experts, and empower them with information to ensure they remain compliant with F1 Visa requirements.
